“I joined Screwfix as a Merchandiser in 2016 and was promoted to Category Supply Manager just 2 months later. As a business, they are keen to recognise your strengths and like to promote internally.

After growing up in Cornwall, I moved to London to study Fashion Merchandise Management at the University of Westminster. I then went on to work at several major high street and designer brands.  After being in the city for 10 years I decided to move back to the South West. Initially I was worried about finding a similar job, with a challenging fast paced culture but  I need not have worried, this is very much the case at Screwfix.  

I currently manage 4 key categories; Safety and workwear (which encompasses all aspects of workwear from footwear to gloves), Hardware, Building and Flooring.  The role focuses on risk management whilst working to implement a forward strategy with the Market Managers.  This is all whilst managing my team to achieve a target availability for our customers..  Due to the broad range of publications and the vast assortment I look after my head needs to be in several places at once.

Screwfix has a great culture; whilst being a hard-working environment it is also focused on having fun.  You are encouraged to contribute and people are keen to hear your ideas. The work life balance is good with everyone tending to leave on time each day.

Currently Screwfix is enjoying strong success and growth in an overall challenging retail market. This coupled with the changes being implemented as part of the wider Kingfisher Group means that it is an exciting time to be here. It was worth relocating for.
