Screwfix may have a Head Office that is a little off the beaten track, but that does not mean we are prepared to compromise on the quality of people we recruit. The future success of our business is dependent on our people, and as such securing individuals with the right skills and experience is vital. As the majority of our key functions and departments that support our Trade Counter network are based at our Head Office in Yeovil, it is important that we are able to attract people to work in this area. As well as recruiting the best people available locally, this also means taking on people from other parts of the country and giving them a helping hand to relocate to Somerset.
To support this process, Screwfix offer a comprehensive relocation assistance package to many people who are relocating from another area for the express purpose of joining Screwfix. We are able to reimburse many of the costs associated with selling your house and buying another one in the local area, or with moving between rental properties. As every individual set of circumstances is different, we review each application on a case-by-case basis to determine the appropriate level of support. We recognise that relocation, particularly when involving family, can be an expensive and challenging experience, and we are committed to doing everything we can to support individuals who are taking this significant step in order to be part of the Screwfix family.
The region
There are many advantages to relocating to the Yeovil area. The town itself is large enough to offer all of the amenities and facilities that you would expect in an established town, with excellent options for shopping, eating out and leisure pursuits. There are many interesting attractions in the area, including the Fleet Air Arm Museum, the Haynes Motor Museum, Cheddar Gorge, the historic cities of Bath and Wells, the annual Glastonbury Festival, the large outlet shopping centre of Clarks Village in nearby Street… the list is endless and as if that wasn’t enough, the major cities of Bristol and Exeter are only an hour away. Excellent local schools, plentiful and affordable housing, and a low crime rate are further reasons to consider moving to this part of the country.
Perhaps the best thing about relocating to Somerset is the vast expanse of wide open countryside. Just drive for a few minutes outside Yeovil and you are surrounded by beautiful rural scenery, superb for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. The beaches of Devon and Dorset and the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor are also only a short drive away. Yeovil’s motto is “The mind of a city in the heart of the country”, which perfectly sums up the fantastic balance between the convenience of the amenities and the proximity of the wide open countryside that our rural location offers.
